In 1991, Dany Olier and Catherine Deschamps-Potter, graduates of the French Ecole de Commerce et de Gestion (ECG) formed International Communication by Design, Inc. (ICD) to assist U. S. exporters in offering products and services to a global marketplace. With their masters degrees in Business and Financial Management, Olier and Deschamps-Potter were well-equipped to identify the unique challenges U.S. companies faced in offering their products to customers worldwide.
One of the export requirements their clients in the Milwaukee area had to meet was the availability of reliable, quality translations of their product information. Olier and Deschamps-Potter were there to help, bringing their academic background, their business expertise, and their unique organizational and production skills together to begin offering localization and translation services in support of U.S. based exporters.
